EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team scored in the opening minutes and held on to defeat Lewis University, 1-0, Friday evening at Strassweg Field. USI raises its record to 5-1-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the GLVC, while Lewis falls to 2-3-0, 2-2-0 GLVC.

Nancy Newcomer (Parma Heights, Ohio) scored her third goal of the year at the 2:34 mark off a crossing pass from sophomore forward
Susan Ellsperman (Newburgh, Indiana).
USI's lone goal was Newcomer's second straight game-winner and she has scored the last three goals for the team in the last two matches (1-0 versus Lewis and 2-0 versus the University of Indianapolis).
Between the posts, junior goalkeeper
Stephanie Bodamer (Highland, Indiana) won her fifth game and recorded her fourth shutout of the year. Bodamer, who has a 0.53 goals against average this fall, faced 11 shots and made six saves to get the win.
The Eagles conclude the short two-game homestand Sunday when they host the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 2:30 p.m. The Rangers improved to 4-1-0, 4-0-0 GLVC, after defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3-0, Friday afternoon.
