Brittani Oliver recorded her 1,000th career kill as the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team swept Kentucky State University 25-10, 25-14, 25-12 Tuesday night in its home-opener at the Physical Activities Center.
Oliver, who becomes the 10th player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills, led the Screaming Eagles with a match-high 12 kills and 14 digs while attacking at a blistering .450 average.
As a team, the Eagles (5-3) hit .435, including a stifling .517 average in the third and final set. Freshman middle blocker
Emily Diedrich racked up eight kills, a .800 attacking percentage, and a match-high four blocks, while junior middle blocker
Danielle LaGrange finished with eight kills and a .667 attacking percentage.
USI, which held the Thorobreds (7-2) to a .032 attacking percentage, had six team blocks, including two from LaGrange.
The Eagles open Great Lakes Valley Conference play Friday at 7 p.m. when they host Northern Kentucky University at the PAC. USI also hosts Bellarmine University Saturday at 3 p.m.
