Game Notes

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team resumes its non-conference schedule Wednesday when it visits the University of North Alabama at 6 p.m. in Florence, Alabama. The game will be broadcast on WPSR 90.7 FM, while online coverage, including audio and live stats, can be found at gousieagles.com.

USI (4-3) is coming off an impressive 76-59 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over East Division foe Bellarmine University. Senior guard Ellen Young had a game-high 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Screaming Eagles, who recorded the program's 500th victory.

As a team, the Eagles had five players reach double figures, including 13 from senior guard Lauren Meneghetti and junior guard/forward Kristin Raker. Senior guard Stephanie Gehlhausen had a USI career-high 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and five steals in her first start in a USI uniform.

For the season, Young leads the Eagles with 12.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest, while senior guard Amie Newhart is chipping in 11.4 points and 2.3 assists per appearance. Newhart, who needs just three points to enter the top 10 all-time at USI in career scoring, also had 10 points in USI's win over Bellarmine.

The Eagles are 2-0 all-time against North Alabama after defeating the Lions, 71-52, at the Physical Activities Center a year ago. This will be USI's first-ever trip in women's basketball to Florence.

North Alabama (3-3) has won two straight games after starting the year with a 1-3 mark. The Lions are coming off a 68-57 victory over Christian Brothers University in which senior guard Sanqueeta Meardith scored a team-high 16 points.

For the season, Meardith is second on the team with 9.7 points per game. Senior forward Niala Harris leads the Lions with 18.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest.

USI returns to the Physical Activities Center December 18 when it hosts Salem International University.
