ROMEOVILLE, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team saw its Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament run come to a close Saturday evening as the Screaming Eagles fell to No. 19 University of Indianapolis in three sets (25-19, 25-14, 25-18) in the semifinals.
USI (18-11), the third seed in the conference tournament, saw the second-seeded Greyhounds post a .391 attacking percentage, including a .548 clip in the second set.
The Eagles, on the other hand, struggled to get anything going offensively as the Greyhounds held USI to a .141 attacking percentage. Indianapolis, the defending GLVC Tournament and NCAA II Midwest Region champions, had nine team blocks to ground a USI attack that ranked third in the conference in hitting percentage heading into the match.
USI, which has fallen to the Greyhounds (25-7) in the semifinals of the conference tournament the last two seasons, was led by junior middle blocker
Danielle LaGrange and sophomore outside hitter
Abbi Williams. LaGrange finished with 12 kills and a .286 hitting percentage, while Williams added nine kills and a .261 attacking clip.
The Eagles, who saw their season-best five-match winning streak come to an end, must wait and see if their body of the work throughout the year has been enough to get them an at-large bid into the NCAA II Tournament. The NCAA II Tournament pairing show is scheduled for 9 p.m. and can be viewed at
