INDIANAPOLIS—The No. 20 University of Indianapolis Greyhounds attacked at a .351 pace to hand the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team a 25-19, 25-20, 25-22 setback Saturday afternoon.
USI (10-7, 5-3 GLVC) held a 16-13 lead midway in the third set, but a 5-1 run allowed the Greyhounds to take a one-point advantage and switch momentum back into their favor.
The Screaming Eagles battled back from a two-point deficit later in the frame to forge a 22-22 tie, but Indianapolis won the final three points to win the set and complete the 3-0 sweep.
USI hung with the Greyhounds (14-6, 6-2 GLVC) early in each set, but it was a 5-1 surge in the first frame and a 3-0 push late in the second set that propelled the Greyhounds to a 2-0 lead in the match.
Senior outside hitter
Brittani Oliver led the Eagles with 13 kills, a .355 attacking percentage, and 14 digs, while freshman setter
Jorae Bradbury finished with 34 assists and 10 digs. Freshman libero
Kayla Heldman added 11 digs.
The Eagles, who hit .218 for the match, return to the Physical Activities Center Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they host Oakland City University. USI competes at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover next weekend in Aurora, Illinois. Pairings for the Midwest Regional crossover will be announced Sunday.
