USI enters final road trip of 2010

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team starts the final road swing of the 2010 regular season Friday when it travels to Maryville University Friday at 1 p.m. The road trip concludes Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when USI plays at Missouri University of Science & Technology.

The Screaming Eagles (6-5-0, 4-5-0 GLVC) are coming off a split at Strassweg Field last weekend, including the team's first-ever victory over Drury University, 1-0. Sophomore forward Austin Andrekus (St. Charles, Illinois) scored the game-winner in the first half against Drury as the Eagles held on for the win.

USI stumbled in the final game of the homestand when Rockhurst University jumped out to a 2-0 lead and ended up with a 3-1 victory.

Senior forward Simon Rawnsley (England) leads the Eagels this season with 12 points on five goals and two assists, while Andrekus is second with eight points on four goals. Andrekus also leads the team with two game-winning goals.

Maryville (1-8-0, 1-7-0 GLVC) is in the middle of a four-match losing streak after losing a pair of matches last weekend. The Saints lost a non-conference match at Truman State University, 7-0, and a GLVC contest at home to Missouri S&T, 1-0, in double-overtime.

The all-time series between USI and Maryville is tied, 1-1, after the Saints defeated the Eagles, 3-0, last year at Strassweg Field.

Missouri S&T (5-2-2, 5-1-2 GLVC) has won its last three matches and five of the last seven. The Miners defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 4-0, last weekend, in addition to their win over Maryville.

USI leads the all-time series with Missouri S&T, 10-9-2, but the Miners have taken two of the last three from the Eagles.
