EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Rockhurst University, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI falls 6-5-0 overall and 4-5-0 GLVC, while Rockhurst goes to 6-2-1, 5-2-1 GLVC.
The Hawks scored the only goal of the first half at 15:11 and held the 1-0 lead through halftime. Rockhurst would go on to score the eventual game-winner at 62:03 and sealed the victory at 85:41.
The Screaming Eagles scored their only tally at the 74:50 mark. Sophomore forward
Austin Andrekus (St. Charles, Illinois) cut in half a 2-0 Rockhurst with his fourth goal of the season. He was assisted on the play by sophomore defender
Jeff McClure (Indianapolis, Indiana).
Overall, the Hawks outshot the Eagles, 14-9. USI was unable to take advantage of its lead in corners kick, 4-2, in the match.
The Eagles hit the road next week in the GLVC when they travel to Maryville University October 8 and to the Missouri University of Science & Technology October 10.
