EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team battled Bellarmine University to a 1-1 double overtime tie Friday evening at Strassweg Field. USI takes its record to 11-5-1 overall and 9-3-1 in the GLVC, while Bellarmine goes to 9-4-2, 8-3-2 GLVC.
Bellarmine won the first half with a goal 6:34 and would hold the lead through the intermission.
The Screaming Eagles evened the match at 1-1 when freshman forward
Julia Kohnen (Florissant, Missouri) recorded her sixth goal of the year. Kohnen stole the ball and forced her way through the Knights' defense to find the back of the net.
USI junior goalkeeper
Stephanie Bodamer (Highland, Indiana) led the way for the Eagles between the posts with seven saves. She takes her record to 11-5-1 this season.
Overall, Bellarmine outshot USI, 24-6, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 10-2.
The Eagles conclude the 2010 regular season Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College at Strassweg Field. The Panthers, who were off Friday, are 4-11-0 overall and 2-11-0 in the GLVC.
