EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team exploded offensively for five goals to shutout the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 5-0, Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI rises to 11-4-0 overall and 9-3-0 in the GLVC, while UMSL falls to 7-5-2, 5-5-2 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by junior forward
Nancy Newcomer (Parma Heights, Ohio) and sophomore forward
Susan Ellsperman (Newburgh, Indiana).
Newcomer gave USI a 1-0 lead at 7:39 of the first half off of passes from Ellperman and freshman forward
Julia Kohnen (Florissant, Missouri). The goal was Newcomer's team-best seventh of the year.
Ellsperman pushed the margin to 2-0 at 25:56 with her first goal of the year, heading in a pass from Kohnen.
The Eagles did not wait long after halftime, increasing the lead to 3-0 at 48:52. Junior midfielder
Paige Nuelle (St. Louis, Missouri) recorded her fifth goal of the season and USI's third of the match from long range off a pass from junior forward
Meagan Kempf (Evansville, Indiana).
Kohnen upped the USI advantage to 4-0 at 59:06 when she converted a pass from Kempf. The goal was Kohnen's fifth of the season.
Ellperman capped off the scoring for the Eagles at 69:52 when she posted an unassisted goal and her second tally of the year off a re-start.

Stephanie Bodamer (Highland, Indiana) and freshman goalkeeper
Levyn Bertram (Hazelton, Indiana) combined for USI's eighth shutout of the fall. Bodamer had three saves in her 76:02 minutes, while Bertram had a pair of saves in her 13:58 minutes action.
The Eagles conclude 2010 regular season next weekend when they host Bellarmine University and Kentucky Wesleyan College. Kick off Friday night against Bellarmine is 7:30 p.m., while start time Sunday versus KWC is 2:30 p.m.
