AURORA, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team rallied from a late four-point deficit in the fourth frame to hold of Wayne State University and pick up a 25-11, 25-22, 20-25, 25-21 victory in its second match of the Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Friday evening.
USI (12-8) trailed 21-17 late in the fourth set, but an 8-0 rally, with the final seven points coming off the serve of senior defensive specialist
Janae Curnutt, propelled the Screaming Eagles to the four-point victory in the match-clinching stanza.
The run came at a key time for the Eagles as momentum was clearly shifting into Wayne State's favor. The Eagles dominated the opening set, using an early 8-0 run and a .323 attacking percentage to forge a 1-0 lead in the match.
USI hit .312 and used a 7-2 run midway through the second frame to build an 18-13 lead. The Eagles saw their lead shrink to a single digit (21-20) before winning four of the final six points to grab a three-point win and a two-set advantage.
Wayne State (9-9) battled back from an early four-point deficit in the third set to cut the Eagles' two-match lead in half. The Warriors attacked at a .371 pace in the third set to extend the match to a fourth frame.

Danielle LaGrange racked up a match-high 20 kills, a .531 attacking percentage, and six blocks to lead the Eagles. Senior outside hitter
Brittani Oliver chipped in 15 kills, a .312 attacking percentage, and seven digs, while freshman middle blocker
Emily Diedrich added eight kills, two blocks, and a .583 attacking percentage.
