AURORA, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to No. 12 Hillsdale College (25-23, 25-16, 25-20) Friday in its first match of the Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Crossover.

USI (11-8) held a 6-1 lead in the opening set and a 17-13 advantage in the third set, but the Chargers, who hit .355 in the first and second stanzas, rallied in both frames to pick up the victory.

Junior middle blocker Danielle LaGrange had 11 kills, a .429 attacking percentage, and five blocks to lead the Screaming Eagles. Freshman libero Kayla Heldman added a match-high 12 digs, while freshman setter Jorae Bradbury dished out a team-best 22 assists.

Hillsdale was aided by junior outside hitter Ashlee Crowder and junior setter Apryl Schmucker. Crowder finished with a match-high 15 kills, while Schmucker dished out a match-high 32 assists to direct the Chargers to a .333 attacking percentage.

The Eagles, who play Wayne State University Friday at 5:30 p.m., had a .250 attacking percentage in the opening set, but hit .067 and .105 in the second and third frames, respectively, to finish with a .135 clip.
