EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team struggled to find any type of rhythm Saturday as it fell to Rockhurst University 25-18, 25-13, 25-22 at the Physical Activities Center.

USI (8-8, 2-2 GLVC) suffered through Rockhurst runs of 8-2 and 5-0 in the opening frame as well as a 10-0 Hawks' push in the second set. The Hawks (8-8, 3-1 GLVC) hit .378 and .357 in the first and second sets, respectively, as they raced out to the 2-0 lead in the match.

Following the intermission, the Screaming Eagles used a 5-0 spurt to forge a 9-4 advantage early in the third set. Rockhurst, however, answered with a 6-0 run to reclaim a slim advantage.

The two teams battled back-and-forth throughout the rest of the stanza, but the Hawks claimed the last spurt as they ended the set with a 6-2 run to finish the match in three games.

Junior outside hitter Brittani Oliver led the Eagles with 11 kills and a .370 attacking percentage, while sophomore middle blocker Danielle LaGrange added seven kills and a .375 attacking percentage.

USI (8-8, 2-2 GLVC) returns to action Tuesday when it travels to Owensboro, Kentucky, to take on Kentucky Wesleyan College. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
