ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team made first half goal stand-up for a 1-0 road victory at Lewis University Sunday afternoon in Romeoville, Illinois. USI raises its record back over the .500 mark to 4-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 GLVC, while Lewis falls to 2-4-2, 1-3-1 GLVC.
USI senior midfielder Katie Teagarden scored the only goal of the game and her second of the year off a long cross from freshman defender Jessica Gates at 3:47. The assist was Graber's first collegiate assist.
The Screaming Eagles held on the rest of the match, despite being outshot in the match, 14-13, and in the second half, 10-7. USI also was a player short for the final 22 minutes after sophomore forward Nancy Newcomer was ejected for fighting after an altercation with Lewis goalkeeper Megan George.
The Eagles come home a short two-match homestand next weekend when they host the University of Illinois-Springfield Friday at 5 p.m. and Quincy University Sunday at noon.
