Second straight tie for Eagles

KENOSHA, Wis. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team started GLVC road play with a 1-1 tie at 17th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Friday afternoon. USI sees its record go to 3-3-2 overall and 2-1-2 in te GLVC, while UW-Parkside falls to 4-0-2 overall, 3-0-1 GLVC.

The double-overtime tie was the second straight for the Screaming Eagles. USI tied the University of North Alabama, 2-2, on Wednesday.

After USI and UW-Parkside battled to a scoreless tie in the first half, the Eagles got on the scoreboard first when sophomore forward Meagan Kempf scored her first goal of the season. She was assisted on the play by sophomore forward Nancy Newcomer at 55:30.

The Rangers bounced back to tie the match when freshman midfielder Madison Picket scored at 77:04. Each team would get only one more shot on goal before the end of regulation.

In overtime, USI and UW-Parkside were not able to generate enough offense to end the match with each team posting three shots during the extra-time.

The Eagles finish the first GLVC road swing of the year Sunday at noon when they play at Lewis University. Lewis rose to 2-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 GLVC after defeating the University of Missouri-St. Louis this afternoon in Romeoville, Illinois.
