EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The No. 12 University of Indianapolis scored in the opening minute of regulation and answered a game-tying goal in the 84th minute to escape with a 2-1 victory over the host University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team Friday evening at Strassweg Field.

USI (2-3-0, 1-1-0 GLVC) dominated most of the match as it held a 24-7 edge in shots and a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Greyhounds (5-0-0, 2-0-0 GLVC), though, did their damage early as freshman forward Shelby Spinelli scored 37 seconds into the contest to give UIndy a 1-0 advantage.

After the two teams played to an even draw throughout the next 81 minutes, the Screaming Eagles' pressure finally paid dividends when senior forward Katie Teagarden's shot from 35 yards out found the back of the net to put USI into a 1-1 tie with seven minutes remaining in the contest.

The Greyhounds, however, wasted little time responding as senior forward Ashley Seehase, who had the assist on UIndy's first goal, scored on a break-a-way from the midfield 11 seconds later to give her squad a one-goal lead it would not relinquish.

The Eagles, who opened GLVC play with a 1-0 victory over then No. 14-ranked Northern Kentucky University last Thursday, had a shot on goal in the final 30 seconds, but UIndy sophomore goalkeeper Shae Morris made the save, one of nine in the match, to preserve the victory.

USI returns to action Sunday at noon when it hosts Saint Joseph's College at Strassweg Field, while the Greyhounds travel to Owensboro, Kentucky, to take on Kentucky Wesleyan College.
