Men's soccer closes
homestand versus UIndy and SJC

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team closes out a three-match homestand with a pair of GLVC contest at Strassweg Field Friday and Sunday. The Screaming Eagles host the University of Indianapolis Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saint Joseph's College Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

USI (0-2-0) is looking to get back on track after falling short in the home opener, 2-1 in overtime to second-ranked Northern Kentucky University. Freshman forward Rush Dugger put USI on the scoreboard in the loss with his first collegiate goal as the Eagles outplayed the nationally-prominent Norse for nearly 82 of the 103 minutes in the match.

For the season, Dugger and freshman forward Jeff McClure lead the team in scoring with one goal each.

The Greyhounds of UIndy (2-0-2, 0-0-1 GLVC) come to Strassweg Field after starting GLVC action last weekend with a double-overtime tie at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. UIndy freshman forward Bobby Adkins leads the Greyhounds with eight points in four matches on three goals and two assists.

USI leads the all-time series with UIndy, 17-7-0, after the Eagles defeated the Greyhounds at home, 1-0, last fall.

The Pumas of Saint Joseph's (3-1-0, 1-0-0 GLVC) are off to their best start since 2003 with three win in four matches. Saint Joseph's, who plays at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Friday before traveling to Evansville, opened GLVC action last Sunday with a 3-0 win over league newcomer Maryville University.

The Eagles lead the all-time series with the Pumas, 18-5-1, but lost to Saint Joseph's last year at Strassweg Field, 2-0. The teams have played to a dead heat the last five seasons with two wins and a tie for both squads.
