Eagles to honor seniors on Sunday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team begins its final homestand of the year this weekend when it hosts Missouri University of Science and Technology Friday at 5 p.m. USI concludes the homestand Sunday by hosting Maryville University for Senior Day at noon.

Prior to the USI-Maryville match, the Screaming Eagles will honor its six seniors – Katie Teagarden, Rachel Caksackkar, Kara Georgeff, Shauni Boudia, Alison Conquest, and Jenna Keusch

USI (5-6-2, 4-4-1 GLVC) enters the week trying to break a three-match losing streak and the home-stretch of trying to qualify for the GLVC Tournament at the end of the month. The Eagles are currently tied for eighth with Missouri S&T for the final tournament spot, but are within two games in the standings of hosting a first round match.

Leading the way for the Eagles is freshman forward Susan Ellsperman, who has 15 points on a team-best six goals and three assists. She is followed in the points column by sophomore forward Nancy Newcomer, who had 12 points on five goals and two assists, and sophomore forward Meagan Kempf, who had 11 points on three goals and a team-best five assists.

The Miners of Missouri S&T (4-5-1, 4-4-1 GLVC) have won two of their last three matches and split last weekend's homestand with a loss to Maryville and a win over the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The all-time series favors the Eagles, who lead 4-3-0, but the Miners took last year's contest, 2-1, in Rolla, Missouri.

The Saints of Maryville (4-6-1, 3-4-1 GLVC), who play at UMSL Friday evening prior to coming to Evansville, are playing USI for the first time. Maryville has won its last two matches after breaking a three-match losing streak with the win over Missouri S&T last weekend.
