KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker in overtime at Rockhurst University Friday night in Kansas City, Missouri. USI falls back to the .500 mark at 5-5-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the GLVC, while Rockhurst passes the Screaming Eagles in the standing to 5-4-1 overall, 4-2-1 GLVC.

The Eagles had a pair of leads in the match, both courtesy of sophomore forward Nancy Newcomer. Newcomer gave USI its first lead, 1-0, in the first half on her fourth goal of the season and was assisted on the play by sophomore forward Meagan Kempf at 8:07.

After the Hawks knotted-up the score at 1-1, Newcomer gave USI back the lead with her fifth goal of the year and second of the night. She was assisted on the play freshman midfielder Paige Nuelle. Newcomer's night ended early in the second half, leaving the match with 30 minutes to play due to a knee injury.

In the second half, the Eagles maintained the lead, 2-1, until 83:48 when the Hawks tied the score and sent the match into overtime. Rockhurst completed the come-from-behind victory when defender Chelsey Schumacher headed in the game-winner with 1:15 left in the first “sudden victory” overtime period and the 3-2 final.

The Eagles, who have lost two straight, will have to bounce back quick because they play at Drury University Sunday at noon in Springfield, Missouri. Drury are  9-2-0 overall and 6-1-0 GLVC after defeating the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 4-1.
