LANSING, Mich.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat Northwood University 25-23, 20-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12 Friday afternoon at the Asics GLIAC/GLVC Crossover.

After seeing a one-set advantage turn into a one-set deficit, the Screaming Eagles (11-11) used a 5-0 run to midway through the fourth set to turn momentum into their favor. Despite trailing a 19-14 advantage, the Timberwolves (6-15) were within a single tally before the Eagles reeled off three straight points to even the match at 2-2.

The Eagles, who rallied from a 23-20 deficit to win the first set, dominated the fifth frame. USI hit .478 and built a 10-4 lead before Northwood could get into any type of rhythm. USI saw its advantage shrink to 10-8, however, before senior middle blocker Ashley Henricks slammed a ball down for a kill to end the 4-0 run.

USI got two kills from sophomore middle blocker Danielle LaGrange in the final four points as it completed the come-from-behind win.

Senior outside hitter Courtney Bealor had a team-high 21 kills, 10 digs, a .333 attacking percentage, and three aces to lead the Eagles. Henricks added eight kills, a .467 attacking clip, and five blocks.

USI also got a solid outing from LaGrange and junior outside hitter Brittani Oliver. LaGrange finished with 13 kills and four blocks, while Oliver had 13 kills and a .273 attacking percentage. Senior setter Melanie Pund added 48 assists, four blocks, and a team-high 16 digs, while sophomore libero Krista Coccaro finished with 11 digs.

The Eagles conclude the 30-team GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Saturday when they take on Michigan Tech University at 2 p.m. (CDT).
