ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team completed action in the Grand Valley State University Tournament by being shutout by the host Lakers, 5-0. USI starts the year 0-2-0, while GVSU, which is ranked third nationally, goes to 2-0-0.
The Lakers scored the only goal they would need in the first half and sealed the match with four goals in the final half. GVSU out shot USI, 30-4, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 7-0.
The Eagles will try to get on track next weekend when they kick off the home schedule with a two-match homestand. USI hosts Urbana University Friday at 5 p.m. and Oakland City University September 7 at 4 p.m.
