EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team was shutout by the University of Evansville, 3-0, in the Mayor's Cup Tuesday evening at Black Beauty Field. The Screaming Eagles will conclude the exhibition season Friday night at Sewanee the University of the South.
The Aces took control of the match in the first half with a pair of goals, scoring at 12:51 and 41:26, and never looked back.
After Evansville extended the lead to 3-0 in the opening minutes of the second half, sophomore midfielder
Justin Fox (Avon, Indiana) had USI's best look at the goal when he hit the right post. The Eagles would finish the game with four shots at Evansville's goalkeepers Alex Dufty, Phil Boerger and Ben Dempsey.
Following Saturday's exhibition game, USI will open the regular season on August 28 when Marian College comes to Strassweg Field for a 6 p.m. match.
