Southern Indiana 81, Missouri-St. Louis 62

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana senior forward Norman Plummer (Cincinnati, Ohio) celebrated Senior Day with his 13th double-double of the year in leading the Screaming Eagles to an 81-62 victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis Saturday afternoon at the Physical Activities Center. USI concludes the 2007-08 campaign with a 15-12 overall record and a 9-10 mark in the GLVC, while UMSL finishes the year 10-17 overall, 5-14 GLVC.

Saturday's victory, however, was not enough to earn the Eagles a berth in the GLVC Tournament. Quincy University clinched the final spot in the tournament with an 84-72 victory over seventh-ranked Drury University. The Hawks had the tie-breaker over the Eagles by sweeping the season series from USI.

This is the first time the Eagles have not advanced to the conference tournament.

Plummer was an iron man for USI on Saturday, doing everything in his power to not let the clock strike midnight on the Eagles. The senior forward had his fifth straight double-double, 14 points and 11 rebounds, by half time. He finished the game with game-high 22 points and 15 rebounds, playing 37 of the 40 minutes.

Following Plummer in the scoring column was junior forward Anthony Pimble (Bronx, New York) with 17 points, while sophomore guard Darren Cloud (Evansville, Indiana) and senior guard Tyson Schnitker (Robinson, Illinois) finished the game with 16 points and 13 points, respectively. Schnitker, who along with Plummer was honored prior to the game, and Pimble tied the for a game-high with five assists.

During the first half, the Tritons had an early eight point advantage, 18-10. The Eagles erased the deficit and took control game on a 17-0 run, posting a 48-35 lead at the intermission.

USI would see its margin shrink to nine, 61-52, with 10:59 left, but a 13-2 run put the game out of reach, 74-54, with 4:46 to play. The Eagles' lead would reach 23 points, 77-56, before settling for the 81-62 final.
