Stein has chance to tie record Monday

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana women's basketball Head Coach Rick Stein has the opportunity to tie the program's all-time record for career victories Monday when the Screaming Eagles host Truman State University at 1 p.m. at the Physical Activities Center.

Stein, who was the GLVC Coach of the Year in 2000-01, currently has 158 wins in his nine-plus seasons at the helm of the USI women's basketball program. Chancellor Dugan amassed 159 wins in her eight-year career as the Eagles' head coach.

"I haven't really thought about it," Stein, who was an assistant for Dugan during all of her eight seasons at USI, said. "I just want us to put together a winning streak here at the PAC and go into the Christmas break with a 6-4 record."

USI (5-4) is coming off a 62-55 victory over the University of Illinois-Springfield Saturday night and is 5-2 against non-conference opponents this season. Truman State is 3-6 after defeating Lincoln University, 61-45, this past Wednesday.

Admission to Monday's game is free of charge and fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support Archie's Food Closet.
