Eagles soar over the Cougars, 102-58

EVANSVILLE, Ind.– The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team eclipsed the century mark for the second straight game with a 102-58 victory over the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Saturday night at the Physical Activities Center. USI raises its record to 4-2 overall, while Saint Francis falls to 5-2.

The Screaming Eagles' 102 point in tonight's victory and the 103 points in Tuesday's win over Harris-Stowe State University was the first time USI has put back-to-back 100-point games together since the late November and early December of 2006.

USI took control of the game early, holding Saint Francis to just two points in the first seven minutes of the contest. The Eagles had a 12-point lead midway through the first half, 18-6, and increased it to as many as 18 points, 35-17, with an 11-0 run. The team settled for the 17-point half-time advantage, 37-20.

In the second half, the Cougars tried to battle back into the contest. They cut the USI lead to 11 points, 37-26, with 17:56 left and got back to within 12 points, 47-35, with 13:43 to play.

The Eagles bounced back and exploded offensively, going on a 33-9 run to expand the margin to 36 points, 80-44. USI would go on to post its biggest lead of the night, 48 points, before finishing the game with a 44-point advantage, 102-58.

USI junior forward Tyrone Bradshaw (Cincinnati, Ohio) led four player in double figures with 18 points. He also had a pair of blocks, two steals, and five rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.

Senior forward Anthony Pimble (Bronx, New York) followed Bradshaw in the scoring column with 17 points, while junior center Jeron Lewis (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) and junior guard Marvin Gray (Bahamas) had 13 points and 12 points, respectively.

The Eagles outrebounded the Cougars, 47-34, and were led by junior forward Brandon Carr (Baltimore, Maryland), who had 10 boards. Carr also had a team-high three blocks.

USI starts the final stretch of its six-game homestand November 28-29 when it hosts the Bill Joergens Memorial Tournament. The tournament, which will tip off at 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each night, features USI, Bellarmine University, King College, and Florida Southern College.
