EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Sophomore outside hitter Brittani Oliver (Indianapolis, Indiana) had 13 kills and 14 digs to lead the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team to a 25-22, 25-22, 25-17 victory over Quincy University in its final home match of the 2008 season Saturday afternoon at the Physical Activities Center.

The Screaming Eagles (15-13, 8-7 GLVC), who swept the Lady Hawks for the second time in as many days, clinched their 10th straight trip to the GLVC Tournament with the victory.

After staving off late Quincy rallies in the first two sets, the Eagles got a combined seven kills and a .385 attacking percentage from Oliver and junior outside hitter Courtney Bealor (LaPorte, Indiana) in the third set to complete the three-game sweep.

Bealor finished the match with nine kills, a .350 attacking percentage, and 10 digs, while junior setter Melanie Pund (Ferdinand, Indiana) racked up 30 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore libero Janae Curnutt (Arcadia, Indiana) chipped in 13 digs as the Eagles won their third straight match.

Prior to the match, the Eagles honored senior middle blocker Meg Buschman (Reynolds, Indiana), who finished the contest with eight kills, a .312 hitting percentage, and four blocks. Buschman helped the Eagles jump out to a 1-0 lead in the match when she racked up five kills and a .571 attacking percentage in the first set.

USI found itself in a battle in the opening set despite holding an eight-point lead midway through the frame. The Eagles, who used an 11-3 run to build a 17-9 lead, found themselves clinging to a two-point cushion before Oliver hammered down her fourth kill of the first set to give USI a three-point win and a 1-0 lead in the match.

Back-to-back kills from Bealor and junior right side hitter Kathi Hindman (Carmel, Indiana) late in the second set helped the Eagles hold off a late Quincy rally and gain a 2-0 lead in the match. USI, which got five kills from Oliver in the second game, led by as many as nine points midway through the set, but found itself in a 22-22 tie before Bealor and Hindman came through with their kills.

The Eagles, who are in sole possession of third place in the GLVC West Division, finish the regular season next weekend with a two-match road swing. USI travels to Rolla, Missouri, to take on Missouri University of Science and Technology Friday at 7 p.m. The Eagles head to St. Louis to take on the University of Missouri-St. Louis next Saturday at 3 p.m.
