Kathi Hindman (Carmel, Indiana) had 14 kills and hit .355, while senior middle blocker
Meg Buschman (Reynolds, Indiana) tallied 10 kills and six blocks as the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat NCAA Division II DePauw University 18-25, 25-17, 25-16, 26-24 Wednesday night.
After a sluggish start, the Screaming Eagles used a .297 attacking percentage and some tough defense in the second set to even the match at a game apiece.
The Eagles (9-10) used a 9-0 run to overturn a one-point deficit and run away with the win in the third set before rallying from a four-point deficit late in the fourth frame to close the match out in four sets.
In addition to Hindman and Buschman, junior setter
Melanie Pund (Ferdinand, Indiana) added 42 assists and 16 digs, while sophomore libero
Janae Curnutt (Arcadia, Indiana) tallied 22 digs for the Eagles, who finished with 85 digs as a team.
Sophomore outside hitter
Brittani Oliver (Indianapolis, Indiana) had seven kills, five blocks, and 18 digs, while outside hitter
Courtney Bealor (LaPorte, Indiana) finished with nine kills and 10 digs. Junior middle blocker
Ashley Henricks (Greenwood, Indiana) also aided the Eagles' effort with seven kills and a .429 attacking percentage.
As a team, the Eagles finished with 11.0 blocks and held the Tigers (17-7) to a .115 attacking percentage as they won for the second straight outing.
The Eagles return to GLVC play Friday night when they travel to Owensboro, Kentucky, to take on Kentucky Wesleyan College in a seven o'clock start. USI also travels to Louisville, Kentucky, to take on Bellarmine University Saturday at 2 p.m. (CDT).
