USI finishes year on winning note

Southern Indiana (8-10-0) 1
Harris-Stowe State (5-12-0) 0

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team completed the 2008 campaign on a winning note with a 1-0 shutout of Harris-Stowe State University Wednesday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI, which won three of its last five matches, finishes the year 8-10-0 overall, while HSSU ends the campaign with a 5-12-0 mark.

After a scoreless first half, USI senior midfielder Tyree Robinson (Jefferson City, Missouri) scored the matches only goal 1:09 into the final half. Robinson headed in a cross from sophomore forward Simon Rawnsley (England) for his fifth goal of the year.

The five goals tied Robinson with Rawnsley for the team lead and was a career-best for the senior.

Between the posts, USI senior goalkeeper Andrew Haley (Wentzville, Missouri) made the lone Screaming Eagles goal stand up by making four saves and earning his sixth shutout of the season. Haley finishes the year with a USI single-season mark of 105 saves.

The Eagles dominated the match, out shooting the Hornets, 27-10, and had the advantage in corner kicks, 10-5.
