EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team posted a 104-83 victory in its only preseason tune-up against the Moose Tours Stars Saturday evening at the Physical Activities Center. USI opens the 2007-08 regular season at 7:30 p.m. on November 17 against Harris-Stowe State University.
The Screaming Eagles led the game from start to finish, leading by as many as 26 points, 103-77, with 2:06 left in the game. USI led at the intermission, 61-40, on the strength good field goal shooing, hitting 59.5 percent of its chances (25-42) from outside.
USI sophomore guard
Darren Cloud (Evansville, Indiana) led the Eagles in the scoring column with 24 points. He was a blistering nine-of-10 from the field, four-of-five from beyond the three-point arc.
Cloud was followed by senior guard
Tyson Schnitker (Robinson, Illinois) and junior forward
Anthony Pimble (Bronx, New York) with 21 points each. The Eagle double-figure scorers while senior forward/center
Norman Plummer (Cincinnati, Ohio) dropped in 18 points round out the double figure scorers. Schnitker also had a team-high five assists, while sophomore center
Brandon Hopf (Ferdinand, Indiana) had a team-best nine rebounds.
The Moose Tours Stars were led by former Ohio State guard Tony Stockman, who had 34 points.
