EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team returns to action when it hosts Kentucky Wesleyan College Friday at 7 p.m. and Bellarmine University Saturday at 3 p.m.
USI (10-9, 5-6 GLVC) is looking to build on its 3-0 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside last Saturday and position itself for a GLVC Tournament run.
With eight matches remaining on their 2007 GLVC schedule, the Eagles are currently in fifth in the GLVC West Division, but are in possession of the number-two wild card spot for the GLVC Tournament. USI is a game back of third-place University of Missouri-St. Louis and a half-game back of fourth-place Drury University in the West Division. The Eagles still have matches remaining with Missouri-St. Louis and Drury.
In the race for the Wild Card, USI holds a one-game lead over Bellarmine, Saint Joseph's College, and Quincy University.
Kentucky Wesleyan (4-16, 0-11 GLVC) has lost seven straight matches and 16 of its last 17 after starting the season with a 3-0 record. USI has won 23 straight matches against the Panthers and are 35-1 against Kentucky Wesleyan since 1989.
Bellarmine (7-12, 4-7 GLVC), which visits Spalding University Wednesday night and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Friday night, has lost two straight matches. The Eagles are riding an 11-match winning streak against the Knights and hold a 20-10 advantage in the series since 1989.
