The Eagles shot a blistering 60 percent from the field in the opening stanza, hitting 18-30, while the Panthers were only able to hit 12 buckets in 30 attempts.

The second half was a much closer contest than the first as the Eagles only outscored the Panthers, 43-41. USI's largest lead of the game came with 13:17 to play when sophomore forward Mike Kalicak (St. Charles, Missouri) hit a pair of free throws to give the Eagles a 25-point lead, 65-40.

The Eagles had four players score in double-figures, led by senior guard Melvin Hall (Evansville, Indiana) with 18 points. Junior guard Kenny Page (Indianapolis, Indiana) followed Hall with 16 points, while senior forward Marty Wise (New Orleans, Louisiana) and senior center Rashard Sullivan (Miami, Florida) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 13 points and 10 points, respectively.
