EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team shot nearly 70 percent from the field in marching to a 125-68 victory over Judson College Tuesday evening in the Physical Activities Center. USI remains perfect at 6-0, while Judson falls to 1-6.
The Screaming Eagles, who shot 77.1 percent from the field in the second half (27-35), had six players score in double figures. Senior guardÂ
Melvin Hall (Evansville, Indiana) led the way with 26 points on the strength of six three-point field goals.
Hall was followed in the scoring column by senior centerÂ
Rashard Sullivan (Miami, Florida), who had 20 points and seven dunks. Sullivan has gone 17-of-17 from the field over the last two games.
USI senior forwardÂ
Marty Wise (New Orleans, Louisiana) posted his third double-double of the year, this time 10 points and a team-high 12 assists. The 12 assists was a career-best for Wise.
Nearly missing a double-double was junior guardÂ
Kenny Page (Indianapolis, Indiana), who dished out nine assists and scored 17 points. The double-figure scorers were rounded out with senior forwardÂ
Geoff Van Winkle (Ferdinand, Indiana) scoring 11 points and junior guardÂ
Kenny Love (South Bend, Indiana) dropping in 10 points.
After Judson had an early 5-4 lead, USI built leads as many as 32 points in the first half and 60 points in the second half. The 125 points was the highest-point total by a USI team since the Eagles scored 134 against Northern State University in the 1997 Disney Division II Tip-Off Classic and tied for the fourth most in school history.
USI continues its five-game homestand Saturday when it hosts the University of Illinois-Springfield at the PAC. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The homestand conclude December 2 when the Eagles host the Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan College in the GLVC season opener.
