SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—Senior outside hitters
Chelse Doubler (Griffin, Indiana) and
Emily Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) combined for 42 kills as the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team rallied from a one-game deficit to defeat Drury University 26-30, 30-26, 30-19, 30-23 Friday evening.
Doubler also recorded a .400 attacking percentage, while Ryan chipped in with a .359 attacking clip.
As a team, the Screaming Eagles (16-9, 8-6 GLVC) hit .284, including attacking clips of .414 and .326 in games three and four, respectively.
Junior setter
Stephanie Wilson (Terre Haute, Indiana) recorded a match-high 58 assists to lead USI's offensive attack.
USI also had 11 blocks as junior middle blocker
Molly Rahman (Ferdinand, Indiana) and freshman middle blocker
Ashley Henricks (Greenwood, Indiana) each finished with five blocks. Rahman also tallied 10 kills in the victory.
Defensively, the Eagles benefited from senior defensive specialist
Amanda Probst's (Wheeler, Illinois) team-leading 14 digs.
The Eagles, who need just one more victory to clinch a berth in the GLVC Tournament, finish their regular-season road slate Saturday when they travel to Kansas City, Missouri, to take on No. 16 Rockhurst University. Rockhurst (22-3, 11-2 GLVC) lost to No. 17 Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in four games Friday night.
