KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team fell to No. 21 Rockhurst University 23-30, 18-30, 23-30 Saturday afternoon at the Mason-Haplin Fieldhouse.
USI (7-7, 1-1 GLVC) was down early in both the first and second games and was on the opposite end of a 12-4 run in the third game that sealed its fate. The Screaming Eagles committed 24 attacking errors in the match and hit just .150 as a team, including -.025 in the second frame.
Junior outside hitter
Emily Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) led the Eagles with a match-high 14 kills, while junior defensive specialist
Amanda Probst (Wheeler, Illinois) had a match-high tying 10 digs. Sophomore setter
Stephanie Wilson (Terre Haute, Indiana) finished with a match-high 37 assists in the loss.
Rockhurst (11-1, 2-0 GLVC) got 11 and 10 kills, respectively, from senior middle hitter Karla Schroff and senior outside hitter Fabiana Borsari.
USI puts a 17-match home winning streak on the line when it opens its home schedule Wednesday at 7 p.m. with the No. 6 University of North Alabama Lions. The Eagles went five games with the Lions last season in Florence, Alabama.
