FINDLAY, Ohio – The 4th-ranked University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team ran out of time against Ferris State University, falling in the semifinals of the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional, 93-87, Sunday evening in Findlay, Ohio. USI concludes the 2004-05 season with a 27-5 overall record, while FSU advances with a 24-6 record.

The loss also ended USI's school record winning streak at 17 games.

The Screaming Eagles trailed by two, 42-40, at halftime after Bulldog guard Dennis Springs hit a three-point field goal from near half court with a second to play before intermission. USI was able to only hit 12-of-28 from the field in the first stanza and had a stretch of seven minutes without a field goal.

Ferris State roared out of the gate in the second half, building a game-best 13 point lead, 60-47, with 12:55 to play. USI started its battle back at this point.

USI trailed by an average of 10 points for most of the final half before beginning its final run with a minute to play. The Eagles, with a combination of defense and fouls, were able to whittle the lead to four points, 89-85, with 14 seconds to play, but that would be as close as they would get.

Senior forward/center Randy Holbrook (St. Louis, Missouri) led six USI players in double-figures with a double-double 15 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard David Bryant (Louisville, Kentucky) followed Holbrook with 13 points, while freshman guard Carl Richburg (Mason, Ohio) dropped in 12 points and senior guard Cris Brunson (Evansville, Indiana) had 11 points. Senior center Reque Newsome (St. Petersburg, Florida) and sophomore forward Geoff Van Winkle (Ferdinand, Indiana) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points each.
