USI women’s basketball falls to Quincy

QUINCY, Ill.—Quincy University got 21 points from Jessica Stuckman and 20 points from Lindsay Anderson as it defeated the University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team, 67-53, Thursday evening at the Pepsi Arena. It is the fourth straight loss for the Screaming Eagles, who fall to 12-12 overall and 5-12 in the GLVC.

USI trailed by just eight at the break (38-30), but scored just two points in the first six minutes of the second half, allowing the Lady Hawks to jump out to a 17-point lead.

Quincy (17-7, 14-3 GLVC) held the Eagles to just nine field goals and a 32.1 percent shooting percentage in the second half as it pushed its lead to as many as 20 later in the contest.

USI cut the lead to 12 late in the game, but could not get any closer.

Junior forward Sabrina Brandon (Danville, Illinois) led the Eagles with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while senior forward/center Andrea Engleking (Charlottesville, Indiana) chipped in 11 points. Senior guard Jamie Truitt (Owensboro, Kentucky) scored 10 points and moved into 19th all-time at USI in career scoring (789).

The Eagles will play the University of Missouri-St. Louis Saturday at the Mark Twain Building in St. Louis. The Riverwomen (6-18, 2-15 GLVC) are coming off a 69-57 victory over Lincoln University Wednesday night.
