ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Freshman point guard Keisha Collins (South Holland, Illinois) knocked down 10 free throws in the final 1:14 of the game to lift the University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team to a 58-52 victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis Saturday afternoon.

Collins finished the game with a career-high 20 points, 10 of which came in a first half that saw the two teams combine for just 32 points.

USI (5-4, 1-1 GLVC) shot just 27.6 percent in the opening period, but held the Riverwomen to 25.0 percent. The Screaming Eagles forced UMSL into 16 first-half turnovers, converting those miscues into 13 points, to go into the break with a 19-13 halftime advantage.

Both teams picked up the scoring output in the second frame. Junior guard Katie Theisenhusen (Muskego, Wisconsin) came off the bench to score all 11 of her points in the second half, while senior guard Tiara Brown (Normal, Illinois) scored eight of her 10 points in the final period to aid the Eagles. Theisenhusen scored nine of her 11 points off three pointers.

The Eagles also had to overcome foul trouble as they finished the game having had a player foul out—senior forward Sabrina Brandon (Danville, Illinois)—and three starters with four fouls. Brandon had five rebounds in her first game back from a shoulder injury that sidelined her for the last five contests.

UMSL (5-1, 1-1 GLVC), which shot 27 free throws in the second half, got to within three points a couple times early in the second half, but could not get any closer as the Eagles handed the Riverwomen their first setback of the season.

Taylor Gagliano led the Riverwomen with 14 points, while Jennifer Martin had 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

USI returns home Thursday to take on the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 5:15 p.m. That contest will be the first of six straight games that the Eagles will play in the friendly confines of the Physical Activities Center.
