Eagles host Northwood Sunday

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team gets its first taste of regional action Sunday when the Screaming Eagles host Northwood University at 2 p.m. at the Physical Activities Center.

USI (1-3) is coming off an impressive 87-62 victory in which it shot 50.8 percent from the field and had five players score in double figures.

Sophomore forward Jasmine Baines (Jeffersonville, Indiana) led the Eagles in the victory with 20 points, including 14 in the second half while junior guard Katie Theisenhusen (Muskego, Wisconsin) and senior guard Tiara Brown (Normal, Illinois) added 14 and 12 points, respectively. Freshman forward/center Jessica Grimaldo (Carmi, Illinois) had 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, while freshman point guard Keisha Collins (South Holland, Illinois) finished with 10 points and a game-high seven assists.

For the season, Baines leads the Eagles with 12.5 points per game, while Theisenhusen is second on the squad with 11.0 points per contest. Grimaldo is averaging 8.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per outing.

USI is still without the services of its leading rebounder in senior forward Sabrina Brandon (Danville, Illinois). Brandon—who will likely miss the next two weeks with a shoulder injury she sustained in practice last weekend—averaged a team-best 6.3 rebounds per game in USI's first three contests.

Northwood (1-0) is coming off an 83-46 blowout over Marygrove. Junior guard Anna Trim led the Timberwolves with 27 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore center Natasa Zikic and junior center Brittany Stedman finished with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

USI defeated Northwood, 65-58, in Midland, Michigan, last season, while the Timberwolves defeated USI, 77-73, at the PAC in 2002-03. The all-time series between the two schools is tied at 1-1.

The Eagles host Central State University (Ohio) Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. CSU (1-1) hosts Stillman College today before traveling to Evansville Tuesday.
