Box Score

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – University of Southern Indiana senior guard David Bryant (Louisville, Kentucky) and junior forward Nick Brooks (Robinson, Illinois) hit four straight free throws in the final 17 seconds to seal a 76-71 victory over #13 University of Nebraska-Omaha Saturday evening at the Disney Division II Tip-Off Classic. The tournament is being played at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

USI, ranked ninth nationally, had built several seven point leads late in the game only to see the Mavericks come back. UNO pulled to within 72-71 when Bryant and Brooks went to the line to clinch the victory.

After trailing much of the first half, the Eagles used a 17-9 run to take the lead, 39-38, at intermission. USI junior guard Melvin Hall (Evansville, Indiana), who had a team-best 11 points in the first half, capped off run with a three-point field goal with 27 seconds left in the opening stanza.

Bryant, Hall and senior forward Chris Thompson (Starke, Florida) finished the game with 15 points each to lead the way. Junior forward Keith Christmas (Gary, Indiana) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points.

Thompson led the team on the board with 12 rebounds, marking his second straight double-double of the tournament and the 14th of his USI career.

The Eagles (2-0) will play Columbus State (2-0) for the championship Sunday at 5:30 p.m. (CST).
