Screaming Eagles holds on for tie

FINDLAY, Ohio – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team held on for a 2-2 double-overtime tie at the University of Findlay Sunday afternoon in Findlay, Ohio. USI's overall record goes to 7-5-2 overall, while Findlay is 5-6-1.

Senior midfielder Alisann Shetler (Evansville, Indiana) generated all of the Screaming Eagles' offense Sunday. Shetler scored an unassisted goal of the year just 2:39 into the match to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage.

Findlay scored nine minutes later at 11:05 to even the score 1-1, where it remained until the second half.

Shetler gave USI back the lead at the 54:25 mark, 2-1, on her second unassisted goal of the match. The goals were Shetler's fifth and sixth of the season.

Findlay bounced back to tie the match, 2-2, five minutes later at 59:22. Neither team could find the back of the net in the remaining 30 minutes of regulation or in the 20 minutes overtime.

Between the posts, USI's sophomore goalkeeper Meagan Homolla (Portage, Indiana) allowed the two goals and made six saves in 110 minutes of action.

The Screaming Eagles resumes GLVC action on the road next weekend when they play at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Kansas, October 14 at 5 p.m. and at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, October 16 at noon.
