ROMEOVILLE, Ill.—Junior outside hitter
Emily Ryan (Batesville, Indiana) racked up match-high 20 kills and a career-high 21 digs to lead the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team to a 30-32, 30-19, 30-22, 30-19 victory over Lewis University Saturday at the Neil Carey Arena.
Ryan overcame a sluggish start in game one to hit .381 for the match. She also had four service aces and three blocks in the victory.
After being held to a .000 attacking percentage in game one, the Screaming Eagles exploded for a .362 attacking percentage in the second frame. USI hit .379 in the fourth game and outscored the Flyers 14-2 to end the match.
The Eagles (14-9, 6-3 GLVC), who have won four straight matches, also got 18 kills from junior outside hitter
Chelse Doubler (Griffin, Indiana) and 15 kills from senior middle blocker
Laura Ellerbusch (Newburgh, Indiana). Sophomore setter
Stephanie Wilson (Terre Haute, Indiana) had a match-high 55 assists to go with 13 digs, while junior libero
Amanda Probst (Wheeler, Illinois) and sophomore defensive specialist
Cara Keever (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) finished with 17 and 10 digs, respectively.
USI returns home October 14 to take on GLVC rival Northern Kentucky University. Match-time is slated for 7 p.m. at the Physical Activities Center.
