Probst notches 1,000th career dig as Eagles roll past Panthers

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Junior libero Amanda Probst (Wheeler, Illinois) recorded her 1,000th career dig Tuesday night as the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team rolled past Kentucky Wesleyan College 30-18, 30-24, 30-16 at the Physical Activities Center.

Probst, who reached the milestone with her second dig of the first game, finished the match with 19 digs, marking the 51st time in her career that she has finished with 10 or more digs.

USI (12-9, 4-3 GLVC) was sluggish in the first and second games, recording attacking percentages of .257 and .133 in each of the first two sets, respectively. The Screaming Eagles, however, hit .515 in the final game to close out their second consecutive victory.

Senior middle blocker Laura Ellerbusch (Newburgh, Indiana) led the Eagles with a match-high 13 kills, while junior outside hitter Chelse Doubler (Griffin, Indiana) chipped in 10 kills and three service aces. Sophomore setter Stephanie Wilson (Terre Haute, Indiana) had a match-high 42 assists in the victory.

The Eagles also were aided by sophomore middle blocker Molly Rahman's (Ferdinand, Indiana) nine kills, four blocks, and a .538 attacking percentage while fellow classmate Andrea Reising (Evansville, Indiana) had four kills and a match-high .800 attacking percentage in just one game.

KWC (2-12, 0-6 GLVC) was held to a .040 attacking percentage. The Panthers were led by Abby Leistner's nine kills, while Erin Krodel had a team-best nine digs.

The Eagles return to action Friday when they travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to take on the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 7 p.m. at the DeSimone Gymnasium. USI finishes its weekend slate with Lewis University Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville, Illinois.
