EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's basketball team saw its six-game win streak come to an end with an 84-80 setback to No. 24-ranked Bellarmine University Thursday evening at the Physical Activities Center.

From the outset of the game, the Screaming Eagles looked like they were going to have to play catch-up the throughout the contest. They were down 17-11 before using a 13-0 run to grab their largest lead of the game (23-17).

However, the Eagles shot just 34.2 percent from the floor and just 11.1 percent from behind the arc as they went into the intermission trailing 32-31. The Knights, in contrast, shot 50.0 percent from the floor and had a 25-20 advantage on the glass in the opening period.

USI (10-3, 3-3) came out and grabbed a quick lead after the break, but the Knights used a 17-6 run throughout the next four minutes of the game to build a 49-39 lead.

The Eagles, behind a superb performance from junior forward Sabrina Brandon (Danville, Illinois) and freshman guard Nicole McDonald (Portage, Indiana), battled back, using an 18-7 run to take a one-point lead with 10 minutes to play.

Brandon scored 10 of her game-high 23 points during the run, while McDonald, who has missed the last 11 games due to injury, sank a couple three-pointers to put the Eagles back into contention. Senior forward/center Andrea Engleking (Charlottesville, Indiana), who finished the contest with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, converted a pair of free throws to give the Eagles the 57-56 advantage.

The Knights (11-2, 5-1 GLVC) recaptured the lead and used an 8-0 run later in the contest to take a commanding 75-65 lead.

USI cut the Bellarmine lead to three with five seconds to play in the game, but senior forward Lynne Johnson hit the front end of a two-shot foul to seal the Eagles' fate. Johnson finished the game with a team-high 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Bellarmine, which shot 55.8 percent from the field for the game, had six players score in double figures, including a triple-double from senior guard Princess Wimsatt (Henderson, Kentucky). Wimsatt scored 11 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out a game-high 13 assists.
