EVANSVILLE, Ind. –University of Southern Indiana freshman guardÂ
Carl Richburg (Mason, Ohio) posted a season-high 23 points and eight assists to lead the 19th-ranked Screaming Eagles to a 100-72 victory over the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown Monday evening at the Physical Activities Center. USI goes to 10-3 overall, while UPJ falls to 6-8 overall.
Richburg, who scored 15 of his 23 points in the second half, also hit six three-point field goals, just two short of a USI single-game record. The freshman point guard also has posted a season-high in scoring each of his last three games.

Chris Thompson (Starke, Florida) followed Richburg with 21 points, while sophomore forwardÂ
Goeff Van Winkle (Ferdinand, Indiana) had 14 points and senior centerÂ
Randy Holbrook (St. Louis, Missouri) scored 12. Junior forwardÂ
Danny Gibson (Madison, Indiana) and junior forwardÂ
Stacy Pearson (Miami, Florida) had 10 points each to round out the double-figure scorers.
The Eagles took the lead for good with 16:08 to play in the first half on a lay-up by Thompson to give USI an 11-9 lead. USI extended the lead to as many as 12 points twice in the first half before taking a six point lead, 43-37, into the locker room at the intermission.
The second half saw the Eagles bust out offensively, outscoring the Mountain Cats 20-7 in the first four minutes of the final period. USI would extend the lead to 31 points, 95-64, with 2:09 to play and settled for the 100-72 final.
The 100 points was the second time in three games that USI has reached the century mark. The Eagles are 98-3 when scoring 100 or more points since 1992-93.
USI resumes GLVC action on Thursday at Saint Joseph's College to begin a two-game road trip. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The next home game for USI is December 20 when conference-leading Southern Illinois University Edwardsville comes to the PAC for at GLVC doubleheader.
