WHEELING, W.V.—The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team lost its second consecutive match Saturday afternoon, this time in four games to No. 23 Northwood University.
USI (6-3) overcame a sluggish start to take the first game, 30-25, but lost the next three 30-24, 30-25, 30-28.
The Screaming Eagles were led by junior middle blocker
Laura Ellerbusch (Newburgh, Indiana) and sophomore outside hitter
Chelse Doubler (Griffin, Indiana). Ellerbusch had a team-leading 15 kills, while Doubler recorded 12 kills and a .458 attacking percentage.
Senior defensive specialist
Kristine Wheeler (Indianapolis, Indiana) and freshman libero
Eva Kieffer (Mt. Carmel, Indiana) each had 10 digs to lead the Eagles defensively.
USI plays No. 12 Grand Valley State University at 5 p.m. (CDT) to conclude the Great Lakes Region Crossover.
