John Oden (St. Louis, Missouri) highlighted Senior Day with his second straight double-double in a 96-79 victory over the University of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon at the Physical Activities Center. USI raises its record two 21-5 overall and 15-5 in the GLVC, while Indianapolis falls to 19-8 overall, 12-8 GLVC.
The #17-ranked Screaming Eagles will play Northern Kentucky University in the first round of the GLVC Tournament at Roberts Stadium March 5-7. The Eagles are tentatively scheduled to play NKU in the 8:30 p.m. game on March 5. USI split the season series with NKU this year, each team winning on its home floor.
USI never trailed in the contest, leading by as many as 15 points in the first half and extended the lead to as many as 22 points in the second half. As a team in the game, USI shot over 50 percent for the second straight game (54.2 percent, 39-72) and held the Greyhounds to just 38.8 percent (26-97).
Oden, who had 18 points and 11 rebounds, was followed in the scoring column by junior guardÂ
Cris Brunson (Evansville, Indiana) with 17 points. Junior centerÂ
Randy Holbrook (St. Louis, Missouri) dropped in 16 points, while senior forwardÂ
Billy Harris (Carbondale, Illinois) added 11 points to round out the double figure scorers.
Brunson, who sank a team best five three-pointers today, set the USI all-time record for three-point field made with 172 career long range bombs. He passed Robin Clark (1985-90), who had 170 over four seasons.
