EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The chase for a GLVC championship heats up this week as the University of Southern Indiana volleyball team plays host to two of the top three teams in the league standings this week at the Physical Activities Center.
The Screaming Eagles (15-5, 9-1 GLVC) are in a three way tie with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and the University of Indianapolis for the top spot in the GLVC.
USI starts the week Wednesday when it hosts SIUE, a team that the Eagles have already posted a victory over this season. The Cougars (18-5, 9-1 GLVC) have won five straight since falling to the Eagles in September. Match time is 7 p.m.
The Eagles will get their first crack at the defending GLVC champions Friday at 7 p.m. when they host Indianapolis for "PAC the Gym Night." It will be the first time this season that the two squads have met, but the Eagles will be out for a little revenge after falling to Indianapolis during the regular season last year and again the GLVC Championship match.
Indianapolis, which plays at Saint Joseph's College Wednesday night, enters the week's action with an 18-8 overall mark and a 9-1 league record.
SJC, which is fifth in the league standings behind Northern Kentucky University, enters this week's action with an 11-15 overall record, 6-4 in the GLVC, and will be USI's opponent for Senior Day on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Natalie Atzinger (Louisville, Kentucky),
Leeanne Gross (Decatur, Indiana),
Randi Raff (Rensselaer, Indiana), and
Kristine Wheeler (Indianapolis, Indiana) will all be honored Saturday prior to the match.
USI will finish the season with four straight road matches, including a trip to the defending NCAA II national champions, the University of North Alabama.
