ROMEOVILLE, IL – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team could not hold off ninth-ranked Lewis University, falling 2-1 in Romeoville, Illinois, Friday afternoon. USI falls to 2-12-1 overall and 1-7-0 in the GLVC, while Lewis goes to 12-1-2 overall, 5-1-2 GLVC.
The match was scoreless until USI took a 1-0 lead in the second half on a goal by senior midfielder
Greg Dingrando (Marion, Illinois). Dingrando scored at 60:36 off a pass from freshman forward
Andrew Bass (St. Peters, Missouri). The goal was Dingrando's first of the year.
Lewis bounced back 11 minutes later with a pair of unanswered goals. The Flyers tied the game at 71:04 on a goal by junior midfielder Tito Lara and scored the game-winner at 86:01 on a goal by junior midfielder Matt Field.
The Eagles will conclude the short two-match road trip in Kenosha, Wisconsin, when they play the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Match time is noon. USI plays its final home match of the year October 20 when it hosts the University of Missouri-Rolla.
