The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team dropped the first half of its Florida road trip, losing to 25th-ranked University of Tampa, 3-0, Friday evening in Tampa, Florida. USI falls to 1-2-0 overall, while Tampa goes to 3-0-1 in 2003.
USI and Tampa were tied with six shots on goal each, but three of the Spartans' shots found the back of the net. Tampa led at halftime on a goal at 36:49 and then put the game away with a pair of goals in the second half.
The next action for the Eagles will be Sunday, September 14, when they play Florida Southern University in Lakeland, Florida. Game time is 1 p.m. (CT). USI will return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field next week when it opens the 2003 GLVC schedule by hosting the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
