The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team will compete in the Great Lakes Regional Crossover this Friday and Saturday, September 12-13, in Highland Heights, Kentucky. The Screaming Eagles enter the weekend with a 6-2 mark, 2-2 against Great Lakes Region teams.
USI will open the weekend with Ferris State University (1:30 p.m.) and Fairmont State College (6:30 p.m.) on Friday before finishing the tournament on Saturday with matches against West Virginia Wesleyan College (9 a.m.) and Hillsdale College (11 a.m.).
The USI-Hillsdale match will be a rematch from last weekend. USI fell to the Chargers in four games after committing 24 unforced errors.
Leading the way for the Eagles is junior middle blocker
Leeanne Gross (Decatur, Indiana) and sophomore middle hitter
Laura Ellerbusch (Newburgh, Indiana). Gross is averaging a team-high 3.72 kills per game and .364 attacking percentage to go along with a team-leading 3.03 digs per game. She has a team-high 15 service aces and is second on the team with 18 blocks.
Ellerbusch is averaging 3.28 kills per game and is second on the team with a .320 attacking percentage. In addition to leading USI with 22 blocks, Ellerbusch also is second on the team with 13 service aces.
