The University of Southern Indiana softball team recorded 26 hits and 26 runs as it swept Kentucky Wesleyan College, 9-0 and 17-1, in a GLVC doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in Owensboro, Kentucky. The Screaming Eagles improve to 16-16 overall and 7-7 in the GLVC while the Panthers fall to 0-24, 0-14 in the GLVC.
Sophomore rightfielder
Sunny Oelling (Valparaiso, Indiana) went 4-of-7 from the plate with a pair of RBIs and five runs scored.
Juniors
Shannon Emmons (Boonville, Indiana) and
Nichole Pike (Fairfield, Illinois) each had a big day from the plate. Emmons went 5-of-7 from with four RBIs while Pike went 4-of-7 with three RBIs.
Emmons (9-12) picked up the victory in game one after throwing a five-innings, one-hit, shutout. She faced the minimum number of batters due to a double play in the fourth inning.
Freshman pitcher
Missy Grover (Mishawaka, Indiana) threw three innings in the second game, giving up just one hit, to pick up her sixth victory of the season. Grover (6-4) struck out two and did not allow a walk.

Rachel Bowling (Middletown, Indiana) and junior catcher
Kristen Houseworth (Martinsville, Indiana). Bowling went 2-of-4 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored in the second game while Houseworth went 1-of-3 from the plate with four RBIs and three runs scored.
The Eagles will return home this Friday, April 18, to take on Saint Joseph's College. The first pitch has been moved from 2 p.m. to noon at the USI Softball Field. USI will play the University of Indianapolis (noon) the following day for Senior Day.
